Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) was an American artist, painter and draftsman. He was the first African-American artist to make a breakthrough in the predominantly white art world. Basquiat contradicted the common classification as a graffiti artist: "I am not part of graffiti art." To this day, he polarizes in determining his place in art history. The present Be@rbrick is his tenth work in this form, which underlines the success of his motifs.
