Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock (1899-1980) was a British film director, screenwriter, film producer and film editor. He moved to the USA in 1939 and also took on US citizenship in 1955. Hitchcock is still considered one of the most influential film directors in terms of his style, although he never won an Oscar as a director. His genre was the thriller, whose suspense he often combined with humor. His entire work includes 53 feature films and is - measured by audience success and reception by critics and scientists - among the most important in film history. Thanks to his conscious self-promotion, Hitchcock is one of the most famous personalities in contemporary history.
